Eliminate Condensation Permanently

Free Surveys and Advice

If you have a building that is suffering from condensation problems then you will know how difficult it can sometimes be to solve these. Many older properties, especially with metal roofs and walls, can develop serious condensation issues that affect the interior environment.

Many commercial buildings are constructed using metal cladding for the roof and walls, but in many of these properties the cladding is only a single 'skin'. This means that the outer side of the metal will be at a similar temperature to the outside ambient conditions, and will transfer this temperature through the thin 'skin' of the cladding to the interior. In winter, if any heat is present in the interior, from any source such as; body heat, engines, machinery, heating equipment, electrical items, then the interior temperature will most likely be higher than the exterior. Because the single 'skin' metal cladding will transfer the exterior temperaure to the interior of the cladding, the heat from inside the building will meet the colder temperature from outside and form condensation.

Depending on the amount of heat generated on the interior of these buildings, the condensation formed can cause huge problems. Even with a small amount of condensation, the working environment can be adversely affected along with any stores or machinery. Buildings with false ceilings installed may not even know of any condensation issues until the ceiling tiles start to discolour.

It is not only commercial buildings which suffer from condensation problems, these issues can affect a wide selection of properties. Anything from garden sheds through to house boats can suffer from these condensation problems, and they can be a nightmare to solve.

If you are suffering from any condensation issues, there are different solutions available. However, the most efficient and often most cost effective solution is spray foam insulation.

Spray foam insulation is used on a vast selection of properties and buildings to solve condensation problems. Spray foam is easily applied to even the trickiest surfaces and areas, and can eliminate condensation with as little as 1 inch of foam. Because the foam is spray applied, the system has no gaps or weak points and provides a monolithic layer of insulation. This means that spray foam can be applied directly to the surface to be insulated, rather than leaving any air gaps, and leaves no cold bridges. When the foam is applied it will keep the interior temperature of the cladding closer to the interior ambient temperature, meaning that the warmth from inside cannot make contact with the colder surface from the outside, and therefore eliminating condensation. Also, because of spray foam's superior insulating quality and the application method, condensation can be eliminated with as little as 1 inch of foam.

Other options for eliminating condensation, especially in larger buildings, can mean weeks of disruption and very costly installations. The most likely solution would be to replace the entire cladding area with composite panels. This also means stripping all the existing cladding off the building before replacing with new panels. This means the cost and disruption of stripping the old cladding, as well as the cost of the new materials and the fitting. This can add up to a very long and costly installation. However, using us to install spray foam can be fast, effective and more cost effective. We will work around your building's use, i.e. any employees, work patterns, machinery use, etc, and will complete the insulation in far less time than other methods.

When thinking of the options available, it is worth noting that the spray foam insulation we use has nearly indentical properties to the insulation used in composite panels. The main difference being that we can insulate your building in-situ, and help you avoid any costly repairs or down time.
